Edinburgh Tattoo
Sunday 4th August 2024 to Thursday 8th August 2024
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual spectacular and we have tickets in the lower section of the main seating area, this year we are staying in the lowlands of Scotland and will spend a full day in Edinburgh for the Tattoo and sightseeing.

Sunday 4th August Day One: Travelling direct to Dumfries, mostly on motorways, there will be two drivers, so hot/cold drinks and snacks will be available on board as well as suitable breaks en route. We anticipate an arrival at our hotel around 4.30pm.

Monday 5th August Day Two: Arriving in Edinburgh late morning there will be an hour or so to grab a spot of lunch before we are joined by a fully qualified guide to take us on a tour of Edinburgh ending at Queensferry to board the Three Bridges Cruise, relax onboard your 1.5 hour sightseeing cruise of this UNESCO World Heritage site and listen to the guided commentary while you enjoy a beverage or snack from the bar. Take in the spectacular Three Bridges, the beautiful panoramas of the Edinburgh skyline, Inchcolm Island with its medieval abbey, and look out for the seals and marine wildlife. Heading back into Edinburgh for free time, there is no evening meal today so you will have at least a couple of hours before joining the coach to make our way to the Castle for the 9.30pm performance of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo this year lead by the Royal Navy. Leaving straight after the performance ends, we expect to be back at our hotel around 1am.

Tuesday 6th August Day Three: Enjoy a relaxing morning before visiting The Devil’s Porridge Museum which tells the story of HM Factory Gretna, the greatest munitions factory on earth in World War One, where the devil’s porridge (or cordite, an explosive) was mixed. There were 30,000 workers, 12,000 of them were women. Their contribution to the war effort helped women to achieve the vote.

Wednesday 7th August Day Four: Robert Burns Birthplace Museum offers a truly unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son. Robert Burns is Scotland’s National Bard, and his poetry and songs are known and loved the world over. But who was he and what made him tick? The best place to get close to Burns and his genius is his birthplace in the beautiful village of Alloway. The flagship museum starts a journey that weaves through the village, taking you from historical buildings to landmarks known to Burns. On our way back to the hotel we visit Electric Brae a fascinating place where you can witness a ball rolling uphill on its own!
Thursday 8th August Day Five: You will be notified about the time for your luggage to be ready outside your door and then after Breakfast sadly It’s time to leave for home. Our drivers will take the best route on the day and will make suitable breaks along the way, hot drinks and snacks are available on the coach. It is expected we will be back around 5 to 6pm, traffic permitting.
